Delonghi DO-1289 Convection Counter-top Oven Review

I have had the DO1289 for a month and overall I am very happy with it. The toaster is gorgeous and does a great job baking. I have cooked fish and steaks and everything has turned out perfectly. The convection fan is not too loud and does its job well. In terms of toasting, the oven is not spectacular, but certainly adequate. Getting a crispy slice of toast takes about 5 minutes. Though it takes a few clicks to do anything on the toaster, the controls and knobs are straightforward and well designed.

I spent a long time analyzing and breaking down the pros and cons of the different top quality toasters so hopefully this review can save you some time. Here are the other toasters I looked at seriously :

Cuisinart TOB-195: Generally well-reviewed, but I could not get past the fact that the toaster does not have automatic shut-off. This is a key safety feature that I was unwilling to sacrifice. The DO1289 does have auto shut-off and turns off after beeping loudly 3 times. In addtion, the Cuisinart's crumb tray comes out the back, which seems totally stupid and impractical.

Krups FBC2: Looked like the perfect toaster, but again a safety feature got in the way. Apparently the Krups model has a poorly constructed door hinge and is prone to exploding. The DO1289's door is very smooth opening and seems well constructed. The Krups' quartz heating would have been nice, but still not worth it. I also suspect that the Delonghi has a little more overhead clearance than the Krups so I can roast a small chicken.

Breville Smart Oven: If it wasn't so expensive, i might have gone with this since it has every feature and is the most powerful and spacious, but $250 for a toaster is just absurd. I bought my Delonghi refurbished for $70, so it was no contest.

The Delonghi also has an oven light (which most others do not) and a permanently illuminated display-- a great feature at night for seeing the time. One other feature that doesn't get much attention but was very important to me is the Delonghi's enamel interior. This is great because, unlike toasters with nonstick interiors, I can put metal and glass dishes in the oven, as well as aluminum foil (every one of the other aforementioned ovens has a nonstick interior). Plus, I don't trust the chemicals in nonstick and I prefer not to use any nonstick products when I cook.

Based on my comparisons with other toaster ovens, I found that the Delonghi 1289 is the best designed and most practical. The Delonghi's performance is very good, though not spectacular, it has great features and, in my opinion, is the best choice for a high-end toaster oven.

DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie Review

I owned a Delonghi before and it died of old age.I loved it and decided to get this one.1.Description says it's red; it's black; 2.It only goes up to 390 degrees for baking; 3.The broiler pan doesn't sit on the rack; it has it's own slot.However, broiling time is greater than my last one; fat on steak never even sizzled.When you attempt to remove the broiling pan, as it isn't resting on anything, it tilts when you take it out and it could drop and injure someone, or if using a pot holder, it could catch fire; 4.I made toast and had to put it through twice and it burned part and the rest wasn't toasted.It is now being made in China and as with most things from there, it is very inferior.Too bad.

DeLonghi EO1260 Stainless-Steel Toaster Oven with Broiler Review

I purchased this product based on the features and the fact it has a one year warranty.After 6 months is stopped working.Calling DeLonghi they said they would replace it.The next week they said no and told me to take it to a repair center they authorized that was out of town.Took it to the repair center and one week later they said it could not be fixed and DeLonghi was sending a new one.One week later I called DeLonghi and they said they never told the repair center they would replace.Instead they would send parts in 'a few weeks.'8 weeks since the oven stopped working and I still do not know when or if I will ever get it back.Amazon should black-list DeLonghi as a vendor due to horrific customer service!

DeLonghi DO1279 6-Slice Toaster Oven Review

I have gone through 3 or 4 toaster ovens over the years and this is the ONE.My wife loves it too, which is all that really matters.

The fan bake is the best, food gets done quick and the food is actually properly browned and crispy.I love the light inside the unit and the digital readout ensures the temp. is correct and the timer keeps me from over cooking the food.

Something that is neat about this unit is that it has a quick function guide that pulls out from the bottom so you don't have to keep the user guide around in case you want to figure out what the pizza settings mean, etc.

My only complaint is that the display doesn't seem centered (the top and side has a white border, the bottom and right side doesn't).In addition it is pretty bright. A good night light I guess.

I would recommend this unit, it is just like William Sonoma unit (minus the dehydrator function and no stainless steel top/side casing).

DeLonghi DO400 1400-Watt Digital Control 4-Slice Toaster Oven Review

I used to have a much larger toaster oven, but having subsequently bought my first microwave, when the big toaster oven died, I looked for a smaller toaster oven to free up some counter space.I've had this for about a month, and I think it's quite good for what it is, but for what it is, it's overpriced.If it were cheaper I'd rate it higher.It broils beautifully. The oven heats very quickly, which is great.By my measurements, it's about 50 degrees above the requested temperature in middle ranges, as has been noted by others. But small toaster ovens are always unreliable on precise temperature.That's why all those frozen foods that come in microwave containers say don't cook them in a toaster oven (which you can do just fine, by the way, if you know how far off the temperature is).I prefer toast a little lighter than it makes toast at T-1, but it's okay.I miss features like the hook pull-outs, which not only pull the shelf out when you open the door but keep the door from crashing up and down, and the pull-out, rather than drop-down, crumb drawer. It's a perfectly adequate small toaster oven, but it should be either a little better or a little cheaper.
